Uday Ramachandran was born into a family of musicians with a rich lineage. He started learning carnatic music at the tender age of 7 under the able guidance of his uncle Sri Vaikom V.N.Rajan, a veteran. A shy child, he started active participation in competitions only when he was a high school student. His talent and dedication won him several prizes at school and college. He won light music competition at all India Universities Youth festival 1999 National level, held at Calicut. He was adjudged the winner of MG University youth festival with ‘A’ grade in light music competition, consecutively in the years 1998, 1999 & 2000. As formal training in music, he completed Ganabhooshanam from RLV College of Music and Institute of Fine Arts, Tripunithura. Trained in Hindustani Music from the great Guru Ustad Fayaz Khan and Mr. Mohan Kumar (disciple of Pandit Remesh Narayan), Uday has shown his versatility in singing all genres of songs.
Ever since he has worked for various audio albums and track recordings for film songs associated with leading music directors in the industry. He has rendered songs for various remake movies and has released more than 500 audio Cassettes and CDs. He has had the good fortune to be associated with some of the greatest legends like Devarajan Master, Raveendran Mash, Vidhaydharan Mash, Jayavijaya (Jayan), Darshan Raman, T.S.Radhakrishnan and many others. His entry to playback singing was marked by a song in the movie “Doctor Innocent Aanu” and rendered a beautiful melody Ormakalkkoppam… in the recent released movie “Namboothiri Yuvavu @ 43”. Currently, he is working with mainstream music directors in two projects, to be released in 2014.
Uday has shown his talent in India and abroad. While he is an ‘A’ Grade Artist and a renowned Announcer at All India Radio, he has also served as Music Manager & Administration Head of 98.4 UFM. He was the Music Manager, Administration Head and Sr. RJ of 98.4 UFM, the first ever Malayalam radio station, Kuwait. Presented four individual primetime shows Morning Dew, U Classics, Heartthrobs and Voice Of Love capturing the hearts of all malayalees in KUWAIT. A singer of proven credentials, he has composed Music for leading television Serials in association with two Major Malayalam T.V Channels.
He holds a Certificate in Vocology (Voice Training) from Chetana Institute of Music under the training of Fr. Dr. Paul Poovathingal, the first Vocologist in India. An MA (Malayalam) from MG University, he is presently doing MBA (HR) from Annamalai University.
